The psycho-somatic instrument to effect this transformation of consciousness and the ennoblement of character is Kundalini. In the ages to come, therefore, the voluntarily created products of Kundalini will not only be mental and intellectual prodigies of the highest order, but also men and women of exemplary character. There is a weighty reason why this should be so: The entry to the superconscious state implies a thrilling and exhilarating experience; there is nothing of this earth to compare with it. It is the acme of all that a human being would like to have, possess, or achieve. “The cow that fulfills all wishes,” “the Island of Jewels,” “the Garden of Bliss,” “the Mountain of Gold,” and other such euphemistic terms were coined by the ancient masters to signify the indescribable glory of this sovereign state. The fears expressed by William Irwin Thompson, that such a crop of adepts would introduce a new papacy and pose a threat to democracy, are unfounded. In the first place, such an attitude presupposes belief in the perpetual nature of the present form of ideas about democracy and other modern political systems, in which cracks have already begun to appear. Secondly, it completely ignores the actual reality, which allots a dominant position to the intelligent and gifted in a society over their less fortunate compeers
